Welcome to Le Portelois, a charming restaurant located on the picturesque 42 Quai Duguay Trouin in Le Portel, France. With its serene ambiance and enchanting views, this establishment promises a dining experience that balances both the comforting feel of a local bar and the elegance of fine dining.
While the menu may be a bit of a puzzle for non-French speakers, as noted by a recent patron, don’t let the lack of an English menu deter you. The culinary selection is diverse, showcasing the restaurant's mastery of mussel preparations – with over 20 different cooking methods that tantalize the taste buds. Les Moules Bleu, which one satisfied customer hailed as potentially the best mussels they've ever had, are certainly a standout. The consistency of the dishes can vary, as echoed by diners who praised some meals while finding others to be slightly less than perfect, but that is part of the charm of a vibrant kitchen eager to innovate.
The atmosphere at Le Portelois enhances the dining experience. Guests are encouraged to reserve a window seat to fully appreciate the stunning sunset views while enjoying their meal. The staff here are well-regarded for their accommodating nature, ensuring that each visitor feels welcomed. Indeed, the culinary journey extends beyond just mussels. We had very nice endives salad and I had very good mussels with vinegar. My friend has mussels with seafood and they were overcooked and cheewy so not consistent. They had cocktails but they were not at all advertised, we only realised they had them when we saw some cocktail card lying around.

Fantastic food and even better service. Les Moules Bleu are a must-try. Could be the best mussels we’ve had. Also fish of the week was great. We sat outside initially and then moved inside onto the first floor, the view was great.
